We would especially like you to appreciate our unique position in the centre of Leicester City, and to understand the challenges facing us:

At the heart of this cosmopolitan city, daily conscious of our place in this world of many cultures, worldviews, faiths and complexities, our sense of mission and purpose gradually unfolds. We are a learning church, seeking to establish a centre where Christian people in partnership with others, become better equipped to respond to the world we share - to live and speak gospel in the languages of our place and time.

As we carry the best of our past into an age of globally-aware discipleship, we find partners in others who share these premises: The Masaya Link building bridges with Nicaragua and seeking to establish a global education centre here; Leicester Council of Faiths nurturing and encouraging cross-cultural encounter and understanding; new work with children and young people across the churches; a monthly non-alcoholic night club for young people (the "Alternative"), a Fair trade shop soon to be established, and SPCK providing resources for contemporary Christians. Recently we have been developing multi-media worship alongside the more traditional forms we inherit, and are actively engaged with the Jubilee 2000 campaign here in the city. Who knows where next...?

Like many churches in the United Kingdom, we are facing financial problems caused by having to maintain an old but beautiful historic building and church organ. We are trying to meet them 'head-on' through our Pilgrim House project, aiming not just to maintain history, but to adapt for the needs of today's community.
