CHURCH LIFE"Never from Thy service move, Needful to each other prove, Use the grace on each bestowed, Tempered by the art of God"Ministries1.To promote mutual pastoral care between church members, taking special care of the frail and housebound. 2.To encourage all members of the congregation to use their talents to enrich the life and worship of the church. 3.To establish two geographically-based house groups in the church. 4.To support local preachers within the congregation. Worship1.To set up an intercessions book for worshippers and visitors to present their prayer requests. 2.To continue regular Wednesday worship at lunchtime and to establish a small team of Midweek stewards responsible for this congregation. 3.To collect and compile a book of worship material, particularly for use at Midweek worship. 4.To encourage and if necessary train members of the congregations who wish to take a more active part in worship. Youth1.To continue to explore possibilities as they present themselves for using the building as a venue for work with students and young people. Evangelism1.To maintain and expand displays and materials in the building containing the Christian message. 2.To maintain the Friendly Foyer, supporting the dedicated team of volunteer workers and exploring ways in which this work can be developed. 3.To support and develop links with the occupiers and tenants of Pilgrim House. INTERCHURCH AND OTHER RELATIONS"Is your heart true to my heart as mine is to yours? ... If it is, give me your hand."1.To continue and promote work with other churches through the City Centre Fraternal. 2.To continue and develop a programme of regular joint services with other churches. 4.To continue to offer the chapel as a venue for Leicester Methodist and ecumenical services, e.g. the Good Friday Service. 5.To explore the possibility of links and dialogue with other people of Faith in the City. 6.Explore the role of the building in educational visits. |
CHURCH AND SOCIETY"He is calling to his angels to build up the gates of day, but his angels here are human."1.To support and foster links with the Development and campaigning organisations which are based in or use our buildings. 2.To use and promote the use of fairly-traded products on our premises. 3.To continue to fundraise and support good causes including: Cancer Research, Christian Aid, Community of Grace, NCH Action for Children and Women's Aid. 4.To maintain our giving to Connexional concerns and Mission alongside the Poor. 5.To explore the use of the building to promote interest in national and international social concerns. 6.To offer our facilities as a base for circuit promoted education and campaigning. 7.To offer our facilities to groups using the Town Hall Square for fundraising and awareness raising exercises. SUPPORT SERVICES"Claim me for Thy service, claim, all I have and all I am"1.To continue to work with the City Centre Committee to maintain the work and Witness at Bishop Street. 2.To develop the use of our centrally located buildings to: a. accommodate and support organisations and businesses in broad sympathy with our Christian commitment. b. generate revenue to maintain and develop other activities by the church. 3.In the light of our 5 yearly inspection to establish a plan for the repair, renovation and modification of the buildings, paying particular attention to: a. access for disabled people b. flexibility in the use of space. c. upgrading of utilities d. compliance with Health and Safety and Fire regulations e. enhancing this historic building f. creating a welcoming environment g. conducting an environmental audit h. To develop our links with the local media, for example the use of the building to record Lent discussions for Radio Leicester. i. To use the premises to display information about events in the three circuits and city centre churches. |
